Falling in Love

My exterior was ugly, hard –
clanking armor no one dared touch.

Until your clever arms snatched me,
plucked from ebony sky,
the stars swung all around,
a collage of bursting notes –

they painted Raw Sienna,
Prussian Blue, Cobalt Violet
upon the grass, we landed
and danced, our feet,
they filled the spaces,
I couldn’t help,
the pounding beat,

was it my heart?
The colors smeared,
intensified,
then dripped
soft and crazy,
I tripped,
and fell
in love
with you.

Grace is today’s host for dVerse Meet the Bar.  Grace says:
The writing challenge: Today we will incorporate music in our poem from the perspective of a synesthete.   Create your own Symphony.  Infuse your musical experience when listening to a band, artist or musical genre, with colors, sounds & textures.   Write a song filled with colors.

I was also inspired by this version of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” which influenced my title and ending lines!

  1. Oh my heart this is absolutely splendid, Tricia 😀 I love; “they painted Raw Sienna, Prussian Blue, Cobalt Violet upon the grass, we landed and danced, our feet, they filled the spaces, I couldn’t help, the pounding beat.” You describe all there is to love and more! 💝💝

  2. A muscular piece pursuing love like a pup chasing a ball, smearing the color spectrum wonderfully; really impressive rocking of the prompt. I liked “plucked from ebony sky, the stars swung all around, a collage of bursting notes.”

  3. So sweet and great love story. I specially love the ending of the colors smering and intensifying, with the musical piece.

    Thanks for joining in.
