you punctured my husk
just like popcorn / I burst
accordion groans / sequestered sighs
can you uninstall my heart
from your chest?
saltwater time / drifting / sifting
being alone is not hard
it’s the memory I want to escape

It’s the memories I want to escape….
Profound write 💙 dear friend
Thanks for reading, friend! 🥰
This is gorgeously rendered, Tricia! I particularly love; “saltwater time / drifting / sifting being alone is not hard.” 🙂
Thanks, Sanaa! I appreciate your feedback and glad you enjoyed it! 💞
saltwater time / drifting / sifting
What an amazing line. Saltwater makes things more buoyant…they float more, knock into each other, drift, become water logged to finally sink….but the floating and drifting at sea….just a wonderful image here. And then those final two lines….it’s the memory I want to escape. That can stick with you. A relationship gone sour….a leaving….but the memories drift still within the mind.
I really liked this write!
Thanks, Lillian! Yes, it’s about a relationship gone sour. Saltwater also stings, so saltwater time is about the memories stinging in time as she drifts and sifts through them. Thanks for hosting this week! ❣️
Lots of ekphrastic challenges!
“can you uninstall my heart
from your chest?” Sounds like such a cry from that very heart–to escape those memories.
Thanks, Merril! Yes, I started thinking about what it would be like to uninstall feelings, lol!
