I am Black
close your eyes and see
the color of ink
God’s pen
His wink
DON’T DEFINE ME
I am the void that cradles stars
the top hat blown away
the magician’s dark eyes
your shadow
as you pray
I’M NOT EVIL
Judge me not
But I’m okay with dirty looks
focused
and sharp
keep staring
don’t stop
WE’VE BEEN HERE BEFORE
but your memory is gone
for your desires
IGNITED
and rose up
with the dawn.

Beautiful piece 🖤, amazing writing ✨
Thanks for your comment! 🥰
Of course!!!
Thank you for taking the prompt to the next level as the color becomes a bit rebellious of this mold we’ve put him/her in. Nice one!
Thanks, Mish! I enjoyed my little rendezvous with black this afternoon thanks to your prompt! 🖤🎩✒
color of ink/ God’s pen/ His wink… star cradle… Very cool take on the color.
So happy you liked those lines! I think I’ve been a secret admirer of black for a while! 🖤
Black has often been overlooked as a colour but here you describe black beautifully. ‘I am the void that cradles stars’ – love this!
Thanks, Carol! I always find space poetic! ✨
Tricia,
Black “as the magician’s dark eyes” is pure magic in itself, evokes unanticipated outcomes, temptations, promises. But I declare, I do not judge! 😀
Pax,
Dora
Thanks, Dora! Black is mysterious, anything and everything could happen! ✨
Good black but by no means dark. Cool read, TS. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it, Ron! 🖤
The top hat and the magician blowing away. The soot that is left after a fire burns out. I really enjoyed your imagery.
Thanks! I appreciate your feedback! 🖤
your link wasn’t working on the dVerse link up, maybe you can repost it!
I’m so pleased you’ve written about my favourite colour to wear, Tricia. I defy anyone who says black is not a colour! I love ‘close your eyes and see the color of ink’ and ‘I am the void that cradles stars’.
What would we do without black pants; 🙏 I appreciate your feedback, Kim! 🖤
BAM! Another wonderful poem!
I really love how you made use of capital letters, Tricia. Fantastic!

Thanks, Sanaa! I got a little philosophical and hoped it wasn’t too deep! 💕
