A Kinda Jazz

One note always shrieks
A kinda jazz
this crazy love
the sax is still good enough
to tap your foot
through Sunday brunch
with burnt toast
and Friday nights
with cheap wine
and children slamming
doors and a barking
dog who pees
at doorbells.

Written for the dVerse quadrille prompt, where Linda asks us to write about wine.

  1. Crazy magic that keeps you hopping! And don’t forget the cheap wine cause that’s all we could afford. 😂 Love this poem Tricia.

  2. The video clip and your quadrille made me smile, Tricia, especially the final lines. My old dog, who sadly is no more, used to do that when he was a puppy, and the first thing he did when my husband came up to visit, when he was still in digs in London, was pee on his desert boots!

  3. A very entertaining poem with it’s playful tone. It made me think about how love and life are pretty jazzy…never know what will happen next!
