Pamper your dog

Sometimes I beg
like a dog
with my tooth
                   stuck out

I may bark orders
and I might not shave
my legs

but scratch me just
right
and I'm a fun
       girl for days

and then I'm tired
and need a nap

just leave me
     in the hot
          sun
             belly up -

but be there to
open the door
and shut it
and open again-

and when I bark your name
with love
in my eyes
know I'm yours
and please
give me
      just
            one more
                           treat.

  1. Romeo is a great name for your little dog, Tricia, his is gorgeous, and I enjoyed your fun comparison! We all need pampering occasionally, some more than others.

  2. Tricia, this is a splendid poem! The picture of your ShihTzu, and your wonderful and touching descriptions of how the sweet thing comports itself in its daily life, had me smiling through tears. I can tell you both love, and are intimately aware of your pet. How fortunate you are. I just lost my ShihTzu Edgrrr last month. My heart is torn Beautiful and tender poem.

    1. So sorry to hear about your loss, Rob! Happy this brought a smile through tears! Romeo is a Maltipoo but does look like Shihtzu. We’ve only had him for a year and having a good time with him! ❤
