lovelorn hunger
this emptiness has no bottom
and I’m still cooking
as kitchen burns
~into night sky~
I now scream why
the only thing
I taste is
dying stars

“the only thing/I taste/is dying stars” – Fantastic! I loved this!
Thanks, Evan! π
A wonderful Puente … bridge line connects beautifully.
Glad you like it, Helen! π
Wow! Itβs like a trip especially with the transition. A descent into emotion and vulnerability. The final few lines are just brilliant and I can feel that urge to scream as it was building up. Fantastic work! I loved this, beginning to end.
Thanks for your comment, I was surprised how much fun Puente poems can be!
Tricia, your poem literally made me shudder when I read the first line of the second stanza. I could hear the scream.

Just approving this one as well from my spam folder. What is wrong with WordPress. Shudder must be a trigger word for them, lol! Thanks for reading David! π
Astronomically good, Tricia! π
π Thanks, Ingrid! π
I feel that βlovelorn hungerβ and the emptiness with no bottom, Tricia, and love βthe only thing I taste is dying starsβ.

So well done, Tricia. The bridge line works perfectly. You can feel the rage burning, and I LOVE

Thanks, Merril! I think the puente is going to be a favorite of mine, now! π
Jane Dougherty got me started on them. I really like them, too.
Intense emotion radiating out of this, Tricia.
Thanks, Lisa! I must have been in a mood when I wrote it! π
LMAO!
That is one hell of an emotional bridge to cross. I really felt it.
Thanks so much, Sean! π
Oh this is so so gorgeous, Tricia π I love the image of lovelorn hunger, the cooking filling the night sky and gosh the “only thing I taste is dying stars.” Unforgettable poem! ππ
Appreciate your kind words, Sanaa! π₯°
WELL! I wish you were sitting next to me …. you would have heard a very audible “Ohhhhh” escape my lips at the end of reading this. What an impact! Just a great example of the form.
Smiling from your comment, Lillian! Thanks so much! π
