Palinode
No, I’ll save a part
for your bass guitar,
a springboard for my
voice – on a darkened floor
~under disco ball~
of splintered lights
with sounds that bleed
into rhymes that
chime sublime.

Grace hosts dVerse Meeting the Bar, and she has asked us to write a palinode, that is:
‘an ode or song that retracts or recants a view or sentiment that the poet wrote in a previous poem.’
So many seem capable of strong palinodes! I enjoy your piece – like a comment made after-the-fact, a moment where you might say, “No, the memory is of use even if you are no longer.” Delicious!
Thanks! Exactly, the memory is part of us now and we can grow from it! 💝
Yum.
Thanks, Ron! 🍷
I love your response to your twitter poem. Bad or darker, it all becomes part of ourselves. The puente part I liked best:
bleed
into rhymes that
chime sublime.
This was a challenge for me at first and made me think! Appreciate your comments and the prompt this week! ❤️🙏❤️
Hi Tricia,
I have a request for you.
Can you please contact me via my email at sometimesg@yahoo.com ?
Thank you.
Grace
Sure!
Navigation does seem to get easier over time and experience, which is a true blessing.
Yes! Thanks, Lisa! 💕
You’re welcome ❤
I love the Twitter poem, Tricia, the sharp noes swallowed in bad duets, the way you used layout in ‘jumped out the window’ and ‘I cross your parts ou̶t̶’, and the Puente as recant is perfect, especially how the ‘springboard for my voice’ splinters into lights from a disco ball, and the final line with the only rhyme!
Thanks, Kim! Always appreciate the feedback! 💖
I like the answer to your original poem Tricia, where I feel the ‘bassist’ has been demoted to the role of highlighting the singer’s talents.
Yes! Thanks, Ingrid! ❤️
Tricia,
What a duet the palinode becomes, the part and the counterpart necessary for the poet to transfigure into the magic that is her song! I love it. 💝

Thanks, Dora! I’m happy I had the chance to write a follow-up on it. 💝
This is simply wonderful!
Thanks so much, Linda! 💝
Whistles!!! 💝💝 This is absolutely badass, Tricia 😀 I love the response; “a springboard for my voice – on a darkened floor under disco ball.”
Thanks, Sanaa! So happy you enjoyed those lines! 🥰
Love both your twitter poem and the response… certainly you cannot leave out the darker part of any music… maybe the bass note of being the second fiddle.
Thanks, Bjorn! ❤
I really like what you have done here. Save him a part … still part of your life! Very nice!
Thanks, Dwight! 🎶
You are welcome!
