Seven Silent Strings

I’m a quarter moon short
             just a sliver of self

        mixed up in fall foliage
           and bright sunbeams

I twirl my skirt
just to feel

              the breeze

six full times
under Seraphim’s wings

        u n r a v e l i n g truth
        while sinners sing

shrill and sharp
my ears now ring

       in seven silent strings

Written for dVerse Open Link Night “Come and kick up a can-can skirt with me”

Silent guitars are usually tuned in the same manner as traditional guitars, from low to high: E – A – D – G – B – E. Various models are available with seven, eight, and even 14-string configurations, although those are rare.

  1. Love all the wordplay in this, Tricia, and the playful nature of it! The “quarter moon” and “sliver of self” and the way you spaced out the word “unraveling” – brilliant ❤
