Blue Canoe

In a blue canoe
we kill the time

with you rowing
in the rain

cracking jokes
(I just can’t get)

it’s a silly dream
as we head
upstream

and I stay drenched
wondering why
beneath blue sky

I was having deep thoughts yesterday about my older poem below and decided to continue pondering the blue. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas as dVerse takes a winter break. I’ll probably be posting a little less here over the next few weeks, but you can still find me on Twitter and Instagram! πŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸŽ„

(edit) I know Zen poetry is supposed to be about enlightenment, but the epiphany in this poem is the full realization that I’ll never know it all and that’s okay! πŸ˜‰

  1. The dreamscape is so intriguing, leaves you wondering what persona’s trying to understand, her own feelings or her companions. A very blue mood. πŸ’™

      1. Right, that kind of blue! I like that. The mystery is part of the magic. And yes, that’s a gift. Merry Christmas, Tricia. Hope you have a grand one, full of blessing.

  2. Well I would continue to stay amazed and wonder beneath the blue sky. Thanks for joining in Tricia. Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!!!

  3. Awww Tricia, I absolutely love this piece. Especially the note at the end, brilliantly done! The flow and the dreamy feel was a delight to read…amazing as always πŸ€—

    1. Thanks so much, I often wonder if people take the message I intend with poetry, usually I let the reader take what they will, but thought the note important in this case for the full “zen” effect! πŸ˜†
