Written for dVerse Poets Pub where Kim hosts Tuesday Poetics “Prelude to a Kiss”
It was icy that day driving
you complained you needed
chapstick
I offered you mine
(vanilla scented)
(all natural)
the application
first gentle
with the tip of my lip
your head dipped
tires slipped
then we crashed
and I finished off your
mouth in the most
organic
way
Wow – what an amazing tension and ending – perfect word play. This is stunning and delicious. Brava!
Thanks so much, it was a fun write!! ๐๐
oooh la la Trish ๐น
Thanks, Cindy! I had so many different endings running through my head on this one, but trying to keep it PG ๐๐ท
It was a fun one for sure and I’ll be imagining all of the endings.. ha๐คฃ
yes, keeping this page clean for the kids! ๐
Car crash kiss. Such fun this one, Tricia.
Thanks, wasn’t sure where this write was going at first, but it was fun to follow this couple! ๐
Yes, they swerved right and left on you.๐ I like that there is a kiss on the end to let us know all is well.
Yes, I think “crashed” *could* just refer to their bodies or mouths here, but really, doing that while driving on an icy road is not recommended! ๐
Whew, oh la la on the crash and ending, smiles!
These were some crazy teens, need their driver’s license revoked! ๐
An interesting story told in a few acceptable words. ๐
Thanks for reading, so happy you enjoyed! ๐ฅฐ
Sure, I quite enjoyed. Feel most welcome ๐ค

I was expecting some word play poems when I read this prompt and you delivered a perfect one! albeit not a very subtle one hehe.
Thanks, Jay! This one flowed pretty fast for me, it was fun to cruise along with these lovebirds! ๐ฅฐ๐
Ah, the chapstick! Your poem made me smile, Tricia. I hope no one was hurt in the course of the icy kiss. I really like the speed of the build-up, enhanced by the short lines, and the repetition of โorganicโ, a cheeky bit of wordplay.
Thanks so much, Kim! Great prompt idea, all the poems have me hot under the collar! ๐ฅต
Oh steamy !
Thanks for dropping by my blog.
Muchโคlove
Appreciate the love, have a great day, Gillena! ๐๐
Ooh la la ๐ this is such a delicious write, Tricia! The ending left me breathless โค๏ธโค๏ธ
Thanks, Sanaa!! ๐๐
You little devil, you! This put a huge smile on my face and I immediately reached for my chapstick โ coconut oil flavored, of course! ๐
so happy it entertained (and your lips are now softer)โผ๏ธ ๐
WOW! Tricia this is one of your best pieces. I absolutely love itโฆTHE ENDING!!! Omg you are so talented. So amazingly done, my friend. Iโm not often speechless, but this piece definitely makes me speechless ๐ค๐ค
๐๐๐ I need to write more kissing poems it seems! ๐คฃ Love your comments, thanks for reading!! ๐ธ๐๐ธ
Love it… living on the edge!
Thrills and Chills! โผ๏ธ ๐คฃ
I must be the only person who read this and thought, vampire.
๐คฃ well I do tend to pen a lot of vampire stories, so you always have to beware! ๐
Ah! That explains it ๐
๐
I love the way you used playfulness with the chapstick only to end in a crash…
Thanks, Bjorn! ๐๐
Would that every crash be so delicious!
๐คฃ๐ฏthanks, Brendan! ๐
Wow! Thatโs so scary and seductive. Lovely poem, Tricia! ๐น๐น๐น
